Enjoyed that episode!

Dark Passage was awesome, and I wish it was on some streaming service now so I could watch it again. Next to the Maltese Falcon, it’s my very favorite Bogart flick.

I suspect you would not like Truffaut’s films, or any of the French New Wave repertoire. Although he and his compatriots admired the films of Hitchcock, John Ford and other American directors, their storytelling approach was extremely European. Basically remove everything you enjoy from the pulps, then amplify the filler and fluff.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Dark Passage isn’t a bad movie at all. I also enjoyed it. But I think as far as books go, Shoot the Piano Player is Goodis’s masterpiece. I’ve been meaning to go to me and Goodis’s alma mater and review the special Goodis collection.
